I'm reading Care's away messages and she's out picnicking and seeing a hypnotist and hanging out with her friends. I actually thought...boy, I love the beginning of term before things pick up, I can't wait to go back.

And then I realized that I'm not going back, and I'm sad. I was also heartbroken about leaving high school though, so that shows you how reliable MY emotions are.

I just stepped on the biggest slug in the entire world. It was half the length of my foot and squelched and I SCREAMED and leapt in the air but not fast enough, as slug goo stuck to me through repeated washings with my foot in the sink. I am still shuddering and slightly nauseated thinking about it. I don't mind spiders; Charlotte was cool. I don't like things that sting, but I don't freak out either. THIS was the most disgusting buggy thing ever and I am so grossed out and I did a Carolyn bug shiver like it was my job. (If you've never seen this phenomenon, watch Boo when there's a bug nearby. She eyes it, tries to contain herself, and then bleeeeaaaurg: a whole body shiver like that of someone using a jackhammer. Mine started from my toes and I looked like Tucker after a romp in the rain.)

I am not ready to move because I hate to pack. I bring more than I need, and always manage to need more and forget much. It's too daunting to start so I procrastinate. (I do this for overnight trips, so a full move--only three months after moving OUT--is quite beyond me.)

I'm glad other people are on the blog train. Way to join the dark side...

Stepping on that thing was so gross and I just keep feeling it on my sole (and soul. This post needs to stop now before I do more damage.).

This is my summer!

Waterskiing!

and tennis playing!!

These are really a lie, an honest picture would be me sitting around and reading. With a cat or dog on my lap. :-) But you don't need a picture of that...

Check out the new pics I have up for Christine's 22nd Birthday. Bar dancing and NYC trip are also new, so feel free to browse. If there are any old pics you've wanted and haven't gotten yet, hop to it, 'cause I may need to take some down because I'm using too much space!

I stole Bright's idea and vineyarded. And Vy's idea and got a haircut! I didn't chop it so short though--I'm sure there'll be pictures of my new place with my new haircut and my new glasses soon!

I'm pleased that Vy has joined the evil ranks, and I'll put up the link just as soon as I remember how. ;-) I'm such a Luddite that I have to relearn it each time. Thank goodness Bright prods me as often as she long-distance can.

Thanks for all your lovely birthday wishes! I especially loved the ones that came through the mail, as y'all know, those are my favorites! The cell phone messages and emails and home calls were great too; it was nice to hear from you and special to be thought of.

If you're reading this and don't have a blog yet, give in. I promise, it'll be interesting once we're all actually doing things. LIKE MOVING IN ONE WEEK. As always, I'm not ready for change, more than slightly terrified, and (still) pretending it's not happening. So far that's working ok, I'll let you know how it works once I actually have to get in the car and go. ;-)

One week til I'll have something to say and no Internet with which to say it...dun dun dun.

What do you want from me, woman? I posted to WRWF and that's about as much as you can expect. :-P

I went babysitting yesterday and was watching this little girl who looks a lot like I did at that age. White-blond hair, blue eyes, can get away with murder but doesn't know it yet. We were playing dogs, with me as the dog and her as the owner. She didn't want to feed or pet her dog, just build little fences around me. When she closed the pillow-fort/fence behind me she said, "I am going to cover your hiney." Then I asked for some food to spice up the game.

"No doggie, you can't eat that, you'll get cadobies."
"Cadobies?"
"Yes, and you will eat too much and then you will have too many pretzels."

We think she meant cavities, but it could have been calories. The definition didn't help to clear it up much!

A few weeks ago we went through her whole bedtime ritual. I fed her her milky ba-ba while balancing four stuffed animals, a blanket, and her on my lap in the rocking chair. I laid her in the crib, whispered goodnight, and headed out. I was proud of myself for getting this far through the routine without being told I was doing it wrong, when she looked up through the bars of the crib and said, "NO! You have to say I'll be right back!!" (which is what her parents say when they leave her room). I laughed so hard!

I'm 22! :-D

I'm standing in the bathroom blearily, having been woken up and told I have fifteen minutes before the family gets here for a nice brunch. "What should I put on that will make me look less icky?" I muse aloud.

"Hmm." She steps back and looks at me intently. "I'd say a shower."

Point to Care.

I have abandoned you, haven't I, my little blog? I've sort of been cheating on you with WRWF, which is more interesting right now. I read, I play tennis, I write...and I eat, and eating's really the highlight, you know? So for the very few of you checking in (and for the fewer of you who are annoyed at my lack of providing procrastinatory material, play with WRWF until I start my job and have more to do. I'll post a little, but it'll be mostly hiatus. Go read about food and look at pretty pictures. I'm such a little hou-swife. ;-) Mwah!
